Microsoft announces that it has received health data hosting certification, which will allow it to support the data of hospitals, insurers and other health sector startups on its French data centers. This is the first cloud giant to obtain this new certification.
Since 2018, health data hosting certification issued by the Ministry of Health is mandatory for any company or institution wishing to host health data in France. This new certification replaces the approval of health data in force since 2006.
It is subject to an annual audit and must be renewed every three years. Indeed, given the sensitive nature of health data , the Ministry of Health wants to strictly control the level of security and compliance of accommodation practices by third parties.
Microsoft will be able to host health data in its French Data Centers
On Tuesday November 6, 2018, Microsoft announced that it has been certified as a health data host for its four Data Centers located in France. The firm of Redmond is therefore the first major player in the cloud to take advantage of this new status . In fact, other giants such as OVH already had the approval of the 2006 health data and will have to wait until it expires to obtain certification.
With this certification, Microsoft will finally be able to work with hospitals , start-ups in the health sector, or insurers and mutuals. These different organizations will be able to entrust the hosting, storage, management and analysis of their data to the American company. For now, however, certification is only applied to Microsoft Azure and Office 365 cloud services. Dynamics 365 data analytics applications will be covered starting in 2019.
Microsoft Power BI price and availability
For SMEs, Microsoft Power BI is offered for free. A more advanced version, BI Plus, is offered to large companies by subscription for just under $ 10 per license .

Amazon’s competition could reduce the presence of the application to SMEs. Indeed, AWS has announced that its competitor Cloud-based QuickSight tool will be offered to these smaller companies. Thus, entrepreneurs can pay their data analysis and data visualization service to the number of sessions. Each session will be charged 30 cents, up to a maximum of 5 dollars per user. On the other hand, the creation of dashboards is charged $ 18 per month for a monthly subscription.
